Back on Car Insurance
I ran USAA to ground and there is no insurance available for us thru them. They did put me in touch with Master Card, their credit card vendor, and their World Card has car collision insurance on it if you decline the car company's offerings. ONE HUGE glitch! Italy may not be covered. "May" means that some car companies in Italy demand you take the insurance. However, MC will within 60 day window and when requested from their customer service supply you a letter of insurance that should satisfy the rental agency. So, within the 60 day window, those with USAA World Card and who will rent on that card call 800 622 7747 and work to rental car insurance ( select "press"1,1,3) asking for your letter and coverage details. They will not send you a sample if outside the window. USAA also suggested you call their credit fraud line before the trip with dates and country so that you do not get Fraud Alerted using the card in Italy on arrival.
More on car rental tomorrow.

Castellina in Chianti
One of the great little towns in Chianti is Castellina.... If you like Italian ceramics, there's a cute little shop... Pep Bizzarrie. Lovely selection and if you end up buying more than you want to carry, she'll ship your goodies home!

USAA Insurance
I called USAA and was told that there was no coverage for rental cars in Europe on our policies. However, they referred me to Mastercard (their USAA Credit card vehicle) who told me that using their card, I can waive the local insurance. I am going to call Master Card in the morning to determine exactly what coverages are provided.
